Peter Nagel's Collected Biblica aim to showcase his significant contributions to the study of the Coptic Bible. Nagel, a renowned scholar in Christian Near Eastern Studies, whose influence on several generations of researchers is evident in the two Festschriften dedicated to him on his 65th and 80th birthdays, is particularly focused on the Sahidic version of the Old Testament. He was aware that only a systematic and comprehensive collection and documentation of the mostly dispersed and fragmented manuscript witnesses would make a complete edition a feasible project, and, from the outset, supported our plans for a complete digital edition and translation of the Coptic–Sahidic Old Testament. His own recent publications "Das Deuteronomium sahidisch" and "Der sahidische Psalter Editio Minor" serve as important preliminary text editions toward the digital critical edition. The "Collected Biblica" compile Nagel's important articles and monographs on the Coptic Old Testament, aiming to make them visible and downloadable if copyright permits. This collection, in the same way as a colloquium held at the Coptic monastery in Brenkhausen to mark his 75th birthday, is a tribute to Nagel's dedication to the study of the Coptic Bible and aims to bring his seminal works to a wider audience beyond academia.
